But, when you find yourself going beyond the 10 hours each day, this might be a sign of excessive sleep, but since pregnant women tend to have disturbed sleep patterns, they might need some more time in bed than usual.

During the first and third trimesters, pregnant women tend to feel more fatigued. During the first trimester, the progesterone and blood volume levels tend to increase, and they can leave you feeling pretty sleepy all the time.

In these studies, women who were sleeping more than 9 hours continuously without any disturbance routinely had non-restless sleep in the last month of their pregnancy and this had great chances of stillbirths.

Now, before you start getting worried by this, please note that this study has been contested by scientists who feel that the long non-restless nights were actually a result of fetal movement and not stillbirths.

So, overall, the threat of oversleeping is not well researched, and there aren’t any scientific facts to go with it. It is actually worth it to spend at least 8 hours each day, of uninterrupted sleep if you are pregnant.
