Everyone has heard about TikTok by now. The app has taken the world by storm in full force and it only takes a few quick glances to understand why: it’s super fun. From zany reenactments of famous movie scenes, to cool lip syncs to popular songs, all the way to the kind of low-brow – but nonetheless hilarious – humor you’ve come to expect, you can find pretty much anything on TikTok.
Similarly to Instagram and Snapchat (among other social media platforms) there’s an addictive quality to it that makes its users want to keep on scrolling. And at this point, we don’t think that’s a bad thing.
Because of all of this (and a whole lot more that we can’t possibly hope to cover in one article alone) we think it’s high-time that we show our own appreciation for TikTok. We’d highly suggest checking the app out for yourself (if, for some reason, you haven’t already) but before you go, let’s take a look at some of the coolest filters you can come across on TikTok.
A Lot on Your Mind
We’re starting out on the goofy end of the spectrum of TikTok filters with the big head filter. There’s not a whole lot to say about it, really – the name of the filter pretty much sums it all up. But we will say that there’s something oddly amusing about seeing someone’s head suddenly inflate like a balloon.
Then again, humour is subjective, though we will say that if you can’t understand the innocent joy of watching someone’s face take up half of the screen, then there’s probably something wrong with you. Probably.
The big head effect works on just about anything with a face, so expect to have plenty of fun waving your phone around and turning your friends into life-sized bobble-heads. Be sure to show it off to your kids as well – they’ll love it.
Who’s the Fairest of Them All?
Well, you are, of course! And with TikTok’s beauty filter, you’ve somehow managed to become fairer still!
All jokes aside, this is a great filter to add to pretty much any video, but it’s especially good if all you want to do is show off that beautiful mug of yours.
Granted, the effects are far from subtle, and you may notice more than a “natural glow” to your complexion. But when it’s used in the right context, it can really make your videos shine like diamonds.
For the Photography Majors
By this point, we all pretty much understand the appeal of a polaroid photograph. There’s something about that vintage look that is just so undeniably attractive.
If you were a photography major or film student, you’d probably say that there’s “a certain integrity to it” at which point we’d all stop listening to you and never take you seriously ever again.
On a serious note, this filter is great if you’re a fan of the vintage aesthetic but don’t own a polaroid camera. Slap this on to any of your photos and you’ll travel back in time to a simpler age.
This last effect is pretty standard fare at this point, but by no means does that make it any less effective and appealing. Sparkles just make everything better, and they can certainly make an otherwise dull photo or video into a slightly more appealing and fantastical visual feast.
We won’t bore you to death with the details. Like a lot of these filters, the sparkle effect’s name alone is all the description you need. All that remains to be done is for you to slap this on that picture of the bowl of ice cream you ate earlier and watch it turn into magic.
If you haven’t tried it yet, it’s time to get started: TikTok is all the rage, and you should hop on the hype-train while you can.
It’s great fun, and we guarantee you’ll only hate yourself a little for trying it out. If you want to give it a go and start making your own content, check out this article. Otherwise, have fun, and stay safe.
